Arctostaphylus uva-ursi

Bearberry

Grows to 1 foot and spreads 2 to 4 feet. A trailing evergreen shrub that makes a good ground cover. Small, dark-green, shiny leaves. White to pink flowers in spring, followed by red berries in late summer.  Red fall color.  Slow growth, but reliable once established.  Sun to partial sun.  Poor, sandy, acidic, dry soil.  Drought and salt tolerant.
