Cotinus obovatus

American Smoke Tree

Grows 15 to 30 feet high and up to 15 feet wide. A rare plant native to Southern US from Tennessee southwest to Texas. Outstanding purple, red, yellow and orange spring and fall foliage. Perhaps the best fall foliage of any American native tree or shrub. Full sun to light shade. Prefers medium moisture and well drained soil. Tolerates clay soil and drought.
