Quercus illicifolia

Scrub Oak

Grows 4 to 10 feet with similar spread.  Multi-stemmed shrub found in pine barrens and rocky mountain-side openings. Yellowish, green blooms in spring followed by acorns. Tolerant of fire; has many dormant buds that resprout from roots after a burn. Sun to light shade. Dry to moist well-drained soil.
