Lindera bezoin


Grows 8 to 15 feet high.  An upright, spreading shrub with yellow flowers before leaves appear in spring. Shiny, red fruit close to the stem through summer and fall.  Fruit, leaves and twigs have a spicy smell when crushed. Found in damp woods. Good for birds.  Partial sun to shade. Moist to wet soil.
